LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FanDuel, the leader in one-day fantasy sports for real money, hosted the world’s largest one-day fantasy football championship this past weekend, awarding the grand prize of $1 million to FanDuel player Travis Spieth from South Dakota, part of more than $150 million in winnings to be paid out to FanDuel players in 2013.

Between September and November2013 FanDuel held a series of championship qualifier tournaments where nearly 57,000 FanDuel players submitted more than 226,000 teams to the FFFC for the chance to win the grand prize of $1 million, or a share of the $2 million in consolation prizes along the way. The 48 finalists from across the United States and Canada were flown to Las Vegas for the competition and a luxury VIP weekend which included private parties, the opportunity tomeet football hall of famer Jerry Rice and a Sunday footballviewing party in the sports capital of the world, Lagasse’s Stadium, to determine the winner.

FanDuel Group has announced plans to make a multimillion dollar investment in Fairmount Park Racetrack in Collinsville, IL. Under the terms of the agreement, Fairmount Park Racetrack will be rebranded as FanDuel Sportsbook and Horse Racing. In addition, the company plans a full revitalization of the venue including the opening of a FanDuel Sportsbook retail location. The agreement signifies FanDuel Group’s first investment in a race track.
FanDuel Group will work with William Stiritz and Associates to revitalize the 95-year-old track including significant upgrades to the facility and the establishment of a FanDuel Sportsbook retail location pending continued licensing and regulatory approvals from the Illinois Gaming Board.
